Heat Transfer and Structure of Glass lined Solvent Tank Jacket

The most commonly used heat transfer methods for stirred reactor are jacket heat transfer and coil heat transfer. On the outside of the kettle, jackets of various shapes are installed by welding or flange connection to form a closed space with the outer surface of the kettle. Steam or cold water is introduced into the space to heat or cool the materials in the kettle and maintain the temperature of the materials within the specified range. This structure is called jacket.

The commonly used jacket form is integral jacket. A part of the cylinder has a jacket, which is used for occasions where the heating area is not large. Part of the cylinder and the lower head are jacketed, which is the most commonly used typical structure. It is applicable to the case of long and thin cylinder, taking into account the cylinder bearing

Under external pressure, in order to increase the stability of the cylinder or to meet the needs of reaction in the kettle, jackets are set up at different positions above and below the cylinder in sections, and reinforcing rings are set between the jackets at each section or jacket seals that can play the role of reinforcing rings are used. Compared with the first three types, the full jacket has the largest heat transfer area.
