What effect does static electricity have on glass-lined storage tank

Static electricity is very common in life. When two objects rub against each other, that is to say, when at least one object is an insulator, the relative motion on the contact surface generates charge transfer, thus generating static electricity. When a charge is transferred to the insulating material, a charge accumulation will occur. When the charge accumulates to a certain voltage, electrostatic discharge will occur. The generation and accumulation of static electricity occur simultaneously, and the charge accumulation voltage can be as high as 50000-100000V. In glass-lined storage tank equipment, the reaction kettle is easy to generate static electricity on the enamel layer on the inner wall of the equipment during material reaction. However, the electrostatic discharge of the reaction material is easy to damage the glass-lined enamel layer of the glass-lined equipment.

Charge accumulation and electrostatic discharge will occur when mixing insulating liquid, adding powder, and liquid materials flowing in the distillation tower impact the plastic packing. The porcelain layer of the glass-lined tank is insulated, but the insulation of the insulator is limited. When the voltage is high enough, the porcelain layer as an insulator will break down and conduct electricity. At this time, the porcelain layer is still effective. When the voltage is high, the conductive current increases, and the ceramic layer at the electrostatic discharge will be melted by instantaneous high temperature.

The damage of electrostatic discharge to ceramic layer is similar to combustion loss. There are many smooth pits on the surface of the ceramic layer, not porcelain explosion. In addition to pits, sometimes there are micropores in the ceramic layer, some of which can extend to the steel surface, leading to the failure of the ceramic layer protection. When there is combustible gas, electrostatic discharge can also cause fire and explosion. When using a high-voltage electric spark tester to test the porcelain layer of glass-lined equipment, high-voltage will also cause damage to the porcelain layer similar to that caused by electrostatic discharge.
